Victoria Ohaeri, the Executive Director of Spaces for Change joined our host, Kiki Mordi, to discuss Freedom of Speech, New Media and Citizen Participation.
Policy Analyst, Victoria Ohaeri has condemned the hate speech and social media bill currently at the floor of the Nigerian Senate. While stating that the bill would stifle the freedom of expression of Nigerians, she also said that the bill is a duplicate of some commissions already existing in the country.
Ahead of the 2019 elections, a social group, known as Spaces for Change has observed and shared with journalist the rising trend of the government clamping down activists in various ways.
Every human has the right to life and liberty, freedom from slavery and torture, freedom of opinion and expression, without discrimination. This right is, however, being infringed on and activists are calling for an end to this. #HumanRights #PlusTVAfrica
